Yatsu-higata
Plankton Research Group
The mysterious world of plankton. Come join us in exploring this amazing world!
Plankton Observation Corner (held once every month)
On that day, we'll set up an observation corner featuring plankton collected from Yatsu-higata by the Yatsu-higata Plankton Research Group for visitors to see. You can observe several kinds of Planktons depending on the season, weather conditions and tides. You might even encounter plankton you can only see on that very day!

We will show you how to use tools such as the microsocpe.
What kind of plankton can you find?

You can also see planktons magnified on a monitor. This way, many people can observe the planktons at the same time.
Plankton Observation Session (held twice each year)
We will collect plankton together with the participants and observe the collected plankton at each session.

What kind of creatures are planktons?
Volunteers will explain you using illustrations and photographs.

We collect Planktons using a tool which we call the Plankton Net.

We observe the collected plankton through microscopes. What kind can you see?

Pictures of the Plankton drawn by the participats are exhibited in the Observation Center.
